The EDQG Library books are available for all our members to borrow. We have a collection of over 500 books, covering many different areas of quilting. These books are brought to each meeting for all to browse.

Members can borrow up to five books per meeting. The borrowing term is one month, so the books are returned at the next meeting.  Books can be renewed for another month, if there are no requests for that book.

In November, books are on loan until January, as we have no December meeting. The last month to borrow books is April, as all books are returned in May for the committee to do an inventory.

There is a fine for overdue books. Members can contact the Library Committee’s Head to renew books, if they are not going to be at the meeting.  Members can also contact the Library Committee’s Head if they want to request a book for pick up at the next meeting.

A current listing of our books, by title and author, is available below to help with browsing the collection.

The library raises its’ funds to purchase books for the library by having a book raffle each month. A choice of two varied quilting titles are available, chosen by the Library Committee.

Come check out the Library corner at the next meeting you attend.

Library Update – April 2023

Spring is in the air!  For our April book raffle, I purchased a book from a quilt shop in Victoria, BC, where I just returned from a vacation with my family, celebrating my Mom’s 95th birthday. The Cloth Castle in Langford, just west of Victoria, has been a favourite of mine for many years, and is within walking distance from my brother and sister-in-law’s house. We always make a trip there to check out the fabric. This trip I purchased the following book from the store:

Season to Taste: Quilts to Warm your Home all Year Long, by Jessica Dayon, Martingale, 2020. This book provides three quilt patterns for each season, but by changing the fabric colours, you can alter the seasonal theme, and have twelve patterns to play with for each season.

Patches of Blue: 17 Quilt Patterns & A Gallery of Inspiring Antique Quilts, by Edyta Sitar, Martingale, 2017. Purchased from Johnson’s Sewing Centre. If you love the colour blue, you will love this book. Beautiful pictures and patterns!  Of course, you could change the colours to any that you like better, when making your quilt.

In March, our Raffle Books and Winners were:

Adventures with Leaders & Enders: Make More Quilts in Less Time, by Bonnie K. Hunter, Kansas City Star Books, 2009. Winner:  Fran P., ticket #836672.

Scrap School: 12 All-New Designs from Amazing Quilters, by Lissa Alexander, Martingale, 2021. Winner:  Laurrie G., ticket #836650.

Both books were purchased from Johnson’s Sewing Centre, Quilter’s Dream, Southside quilt store location. Both books are also available from the guild library. Contact library@design.edqg.ca if you would like to borrow these books.

Thank you for your support of the library and the book raffles, which raise money for new books in the library. In March we raised $118.00. And 35 library books were signed out by 15 members.

Thank you to Library Committee members Dorothy, Cheryl, and Marie for taking charge of the library at the March meeting while I was away.
